A Bit of Color

Who doesn't love a statement? This home is a show stopper. From the pantry to the vanities, this home shows us how to use color in the most subtle way. For the kitchen island we used a custom Benjamin Moore paint Hudson Bay paired with our Riverton door in Silverleaf.
Doors used: Ella Breeze, Riverton in Silverleaf, Riverton in Snow.

WOOD SPECIES

Wood Species Guide

Your bathroom and kitchen are focal points in your home.  That means that your cabinets need to be durable, functional, and attractive. Boxed or prefabricated cabinets are built using low grade, thin materials that are overlaid with a wood veneer. Our cabinets are built using plywood veneer core and hardwood solids, and both materials will matter when you are picking what is best.

Red Oak

Red oak cabinets feature a wood grain that is characterized  by prominent straight lines, arches and points. Red oak cabinets stain evenly. Rustic versions of red oak cabinets have intense color, select knotholes, and more radical graining.

Rustic Alder

Rustic alder kitchen cabinets have a more dramatic grain and may contain a variety of pin holes, open and closed knots of various sizes and colors, small cracks, worm holes, worm tracks, bird pecks, mineral streaks and grain variations.

Hickory

Hickory cabinets feature dramatic wood colors within a piece due to the heartwood and sapwood of this wood type. The color may range from blonde or white reddish-brown and dark brown.

Maple

Maple cabinets are predominately white to creamy-white in color, with occasional reddish-brown tones within a cabinet door panel. The subtle grain pattern of Maple wood creates a smooth, uniform appearance.

Cherry

Cherry cabinets are characterized by their red undertones, but may vary in color from white to a deep rich brown. Cherry has a smooth, close-grained appearance with a fairly uniform texture and random markings. The even grain allows finishes to be applied with ease.

Walnut

Walnut cabinets feature a smooth, fine and general straight wood grain with colors that range from deep chocolate to light reddish-gray brown. Light yellow or light brown sapwood areas may also be present. Walnut offers warm, rich colors that accept finishes well.

Rustic Hickory

Rustic hickory cabinets are more radical in color and grain variation, featuring irregular and wavy patterns. Their beauty is enhanced by random wormholes, knots, picks, mineral streaks and burls, which add to its natural charm and rustic appearance.

White Oak

White oak is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Nearly white to light brown sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from heartwood. Quartersaw sections display prominent ray fleck patterns.
